Lantern pinion repair

Postby JHargrove77 » Sun Jan 26, 2020 1:56 pm

Hoping someone has some advise. I'm restoring an 1860 Seth Thomas shelf clock and need to replace the trundle pins on the fan arbor. Unfortunately one of them is obstructed by the warning pin. Do I need to be concerned about one pin? Should they all be replace at the same time? Could I just rotate the pinion caps so the pin lines up between two holes? What is the best method to remove and reinstall the warning pin without damaging it? Are there any videos out there on this subject? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I have had success replacing only one pin. Take the whole thing apart and replace any others that look doubtful.
