Mechaism Cleaning Medium

Postby gcowie » Tue Aug 14, 2018 9:32 pm

Hello - am getting started and have an old clock mechanism very much in need of a good clean. Can anyone suggest an appropriate cleaning agent which doesnt require importing into Australia from USA? I have heard use of brake cleaning sprays - or engine de-greasers. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello Geoff,
Many members up on this forum have tried and liked an over the counter product called Zep Cleaner. It can be purchased in hardware stores and office supply stores in the U.S.
Here's a link to a discussion covering Zep in this forum. https://clockrepairtips.com/forum/viewt ... ion#p16076
I hope that it is available in Australia.

Thank you for your response Dan - and the link to a earlier thread on cleaning. Much appreciated.
