Grandfather Clock issue!

Postby gmecice » Tue Mar 14, 2017 12:21 pm

I have a Grandfather Clock that will strike on the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, BUT when the hour goes to strike, nothing happens. Looking at the mechanism, it looks like the activation arm is not traveling high enough to activate the pre-set. When I manually lift the arm, it seems to stick a bit, but then activates. Can I be directed as to areas to check?

Like William said a few pictures of the movement would be most helpful. Has the unit been cleaned, pivots polished, hole bushed, etc??? If not that could be your problem with the lifting levers and trip levers being sticky. Little more info and pictures will help us help you.
