Hi. Its been a while since my last post but, here we go. I have a Ollie Baker style MSW. It has 3 let down keys the bigest being a No. 8. The clock im currently working on reguires a No. 10. key. I have emailed the supply company, namely Mount Vernon as yet i have no answer. So, what if i filled or ground the winding square to fit a smaller key . Any ideas would be great. Thanks. Good to hear from you Clive!
I would certainly wait until the key gets there (or order another) rather than reducing the square size. It's always good to keep things as strong and original as possible. Also having some larger key sizes for your winder would be a good idea anyway as many movements will require larger than a #8. You've got a good winder there so having a full range of keys for it would be great.

I found my mainspring let down keys on Ebay. I see there are usually some for sale.

Today i recieved a full set of let down keys for my MSW. Just over 7 days from the USA is prity good . So thanks Bob for your advice, and also to Wingman for your thoughts. Clive in Cornwall U.K.
